Improving Wastewater Treatment
The JBS Australia production facility in Brooklyn installed two three-phase decanters to improve the performance of the facility’s Dissolved Air Floatation (DAF) system and the management of sludge generation. The facility treats up to 4 megaliters (1,000,000 gallons) of wastewater per day, resulting in the generation of 400 kiloliters (106,000 gallons) of sludge in need of dewatering. This project has enabled the facility to produce a solid cake suitable for sale into the fertilizer market and has reduced annual trade waste cost by or 50 percent—per year.
